Prophetstown
residents are fortunate to have a state recreation area in their city limits. Prophetstown State Recreation area, along the south bank of the Rock
River, is a scenic and historic area offering a variety of recreational
facilities. The
53 acre park was once the site of an Indian village. Coon Creek flows through the park and feeds into the Rock River, creating
a natural area for fish. The shady recreational area offers picnicking and camping with electrical
service, dump station, rest rooms/showers, playground equipment, a small
shelter, horseshoe courts and a hiking trail.
Big Bend State Fish and Wildlife Area
Located in Whiteside County, near the town of
Prophetstown, Big Bend contains 1, 188 acres. It's open for hunting, hiking, and

The
Prophetstown Park District maintains in indoor swimming pool offering swim
lessons, lap swims, exercise
classes and open swims. The pool may be reserved for private parties.
The Park District also sponsors a coed outdoor volleyball league and
summer youth baseball program and adult softball league. Pictured is the new REC Center for exercise, basketball, volleyball and
