Prophetstown invites you to spend time in our community. We are located on the Rock River where the “Prophet’s Village” once stood. It was inhabited by his followers, the Winnebago Indians, until the closing days of the Black Hawk War in 1832. Now a State Park, when before 1832 there were 14 villages along the Rock River between Rock Island and Dixon, four of which were in this vicinity. The rolling prairie, the rich soil, and the Rock River with it’s clear sparkling water stretching away to the north, and the groves along the creek, all combined for a beautiful location. It is no wonder the Indians were adverse to leaving the area. For more information on the Rock River go to www.rambletherock.com. Sponsored by:
